A man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Cowley Road, Oxford.
The man was arrested in the Iffley Road area at about 4.30pm this afternoon.
We were called to the scene, where a man was found with a stab wound, at about 2.50pm.
The victim has been taken to hospital and remains in a serious condition.
Cowley Road is closed between Union Street and Princes Street, and James Street is also closed. The closure is also causing congestion on the Iffley Road and St Mary’s Road.
Diversions are in place for both vehicles and pedestrians.

Police officers were called to Cowley Road at about 2.50pm after reports that a man had been stabbed.
The victim, an 18-year-old man, was located at the scene with a stab wound.
He was taken to hospital by land ambulance and is currently in a stable condition.
Two arrests were made in the Iffley Road area shortly after the Force was called to the scene. Two men, aged 28 and 35, both from Oxford, are currently in custody at this time.
Local Policing Area Commander for Oxford, Supt Christian Bunt said: “Firstly, I would like to reassure the community that we do not believe this was a random attack.
“It is a credit to our police officers who attended the scene that we made two arrests shortly after we were called to the offence.
“A thorough investigation is being carried out, and as such residents will see an increased police presence in the area in the coming days. If you have any concerns or information to pass on then please do not hesitate to speak to one our officers.
“James Street remains closed at this time but the closures on Cowley Road are soon to be lifted. We thank the public for their cooperation while the cordon remains in place to allow us to carry out our enquiries.”
Investigating officer, Det Insp Mike Roddy of Force CID based in Oxford, said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this offence, which we believe may have occurred in James Street just before 2.50pm today to contact police immediately.
“I would also appeal to anyone who saw or heard anything unusual to call us on 101 quoting reference number 874 (9/5).

The 18-year-old is fighting for his life in hospital
A teenager was stabbed this afternoon on Cowley Road, and most of the road has now been closed off.
Paramedics and Police were called to the scene by James Street, after the stabbing which has left the 18-year-old seriously injured in the hospital.
Cowley road has been closed off due to the incident, leaving buses changing route down Iffley Road and pedestrians also being diverted
Many Brookes students will be feeling worried after this incident, as Cowley Road is the student hub of Brookes, with many people living within close proximity of where the stabbing took place.
Witnesses were said to have seen a body lying in the road, before the ambulance turned up at the scene.
Third year communication, media and culture student Polly Richardson told the Tab: “all the buses are cancelled and the whole of Cowley road is closed.”
